Hope Horizon EPA's Statement of Faith



We believe in…


The only true God, the almighty Creator of all things,


Existing eternally in three persons—


Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—full of love and glory.



The unique divine inspiration,


Entire trustworthiness and authority of the Bible


In all matters of belief and practice. 




The value and dignity of all people:


Created in God’s image to live in love and holiness,


But alienated from God and each other because of our sin and guilt,


And justly subject to God’s wrath.


Jesus Christ, born of the Virgin Mary, fully human and fully divine,


Who lived as a perfect example,


Who assumed the judgment due sinners by dying in our place,


And who was raised bodily from the dead and ascended as Savior and Lord.



Justification by God’s grace to all who repent


And put their faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation.


The indwelling presence and transforming power of the Holy Spirit,


Who gives all believers a new life and a new calling to obedient service.



The unity of all believers in Jesus Christ,


Manifest in worshipping and witnessing churches,


Making disciples throughout the world. 




The victorious reign and future personal return of Jesus Christ,


Who will judge all people with justice and mercy,


Giving over the unrepentant to eternal condemnation


But receiving the redeemed into eternal life.

The information in this application is true and correct to the best of my knowledge. I authorize any individuals or organizations listed as references in this application to give you any information they may have regarding my character and fitness for working with children or youth. I give permission to representatives of Hope Horizon


East Palo Alto to investigate and verify all information given in this application. I give consent to Hope Horizon East Palo Alto to conduct a criminal background check and to review my driving records if applicable. I hereby release and agree to hold harmless Hope Horizon Easts Palo Alto, its officers, employees and volunteers, and any person or organization that provides information for or to Hope Horizon East Palo Alto concerning the use of, or any attempt to verify the information provided in this application. I release all such references from liability for any damage that may result from furnishing such evaluations to this organization.  



Standards of Conduct 


Respect Hope Horizon’s Christian foundation


• Not teach, guide, or instruct youth/children contrary to generally accepted Christian doctrines, based on the Holy Bible. 



Model and promote healthy lifestyles:


• Not use illegal drugs or abuse alcohol.


• Not teach, guide, or instruct youth/children in such a way as to affirm the use of illegal drugs, the abuse of alcohol, gang involvement, truancy from school, or any criminal activity.


• Not endorse nor promote sexual activity outside of marriage.  



Respect the children/youth:


• Respect the race, culture, and nationality of others, especially of Hope Horizon East Palo Alto participants


• Maintain verbal self-control and refrain from using profane or offensive language, condescension, abusive language, or any “put-downs,” when interacting with youth/children in Hope Horizon East Palo Alto programs.


• Not make any physical contact in a discipline-related situation with youth/children or as part of disciplining.


• Not become romantically or sexually involved with any Hope Horizon youth/child.  



Be a team player:


• Be willing to submit to the authority of Hope Horizon East Palo Alto and that of Hope Horizon East Palo Alto supervisor.


• Follow through consistently on commitments made to Hope Horizon East Palo Alto and inform supervisor of any inability to volunteer prior to the scheduled time if at all possible.  



Media Rights Release for Volunteer  



Recognizing that all content forms listed below are strictly for the purpose of promoting Hope Horizon East Palo Alto and its programs, I permit Hope Horizon East Palo Alto to use any photographs, video images, and/or audio sounds of the volunteer for the purpose of promoting Hope Horizon East Palo Alto and its programs, and I forfeit the right to compensation for any of the above.
